Resilient flooring includes vinyl, linoleum, cork, and rubber floor material. They are so-called resilient flooring because they are flexible and can bend or fold without breaking. Resilient floors usually come in large flat sheets which can cut be cut into different sizes.

Types of Resilient Flooring

Vinyl – is the most popular among the types of resilient flooring. Vinyl is made from using a variety of chemical components which results to a floor that’s highly resistant to water and stains. You can also choose your vinyl floor to look like the other types of floor. And, if you want to give it traction and dimension, you can add a surface texture to it.
Linoleum – a thin resilient flooring material that is quite durable and resistant to water and stains. It is an eco-friendly flooring option since their main component during the manufacturing process is natural linseed oil. It is not as strong and durable as vinyl because it might crack or warp under certain conditions especially if they don’t have proper maintenance.
Cork – is a renewable flooring material that can be highly resistant to stains once you seal it. Cork floors are soft, plush and yielding which makes them comfortable to have for your home. However, the cork floor is the most vulnerable resilient flooring option. High heels and pet claws can compromise a cork floor so easily.
Rubber – a versatile resilient flooring option that’s good for both indoor and outdoor applications. It is highly durable, waterproof, and provides resistance against any stains. Rubber floors are also eco-friendly. They are made from natural ingredients. The manufacturing and installation process of rubber floors are environmentally friendly. Another good thing about rubber floors is that they are quite soft to the touch.  They are a good stress reliever and good for bedrooms and other living areas.

Resilient Flooring Applications

All types of resilient flooring options are durable and reliable. They provide more versatility than any other flooring types. So it only makes sense that they are appropriate for both indoor and outdoor applications. They are good for high traffic areas like in public and commercial buildings. They are also good for homes too. Their resistance to water makes them an excellent flooring material for bathrooms and kitchens. They are also good for living rooms and bedrooms because of the aesthetic looks and comfort they provide.
